Spark plug barrel tube heat shield; 1967?

I have a BB 1967 427 390hp.....did they have the spark plug barrel tube heat shield? I'm thinking NOT but want to make sure. If NOT why did they do away with them?

They were used on the 1965 396 engine and the 1966 427 engines. Not sure why they stopped using them.

1967 big blocks did not have the heat shields although I suppose it's remotely possible that very early engines did.

Why did they eliminate them? I could only guess that someone decided they were not really necessary. However, if so, they changed their minds later. In late 1971 the big block shields were re-introduced and continued through the end of the Corvette big block era in 1974. They were of a different configuration than 65-66, though, and three slightly different configurations were used over the 1971-74 period.
