I have adjusted the cables as far as I can. The emergency brake is not holding completely. Not sure about how to resolve the problem. I have adjusted brakes on older cars (70's) in the past. Never a Corvette. Advice would be appreciated.

Re: 1966 Emergency Brake
Will check cable. Also, I just read the instructions in my service manual. I had been looking for the adjusting screw hole from the back of the disc. Now, after checking for cable stretch, I will remove the wheel and adjust through the hole in front of the disc.- Top

Yes, I was going to suggest that you do this first. You need to first adjust the parking brake shoes within the rear rotors. Then, you adjust at the cable. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1966 Emergency Brake
Joe,
If you have new brakes, you may still have issues. I had issued with both my 66 and 67. See page 5-20 in the 66 Service Manual. It says to spread the shoes until you can't rotate the disc, then back off 10 notches. then pull the park brake handle out 4 clicks and tighten the cable until have a light drag at the wheel (wheel mounted.)
I followed the procedure more than a couple of time and never got the park brake to work correctly. I ended up not backing off the shoes the recommended 10 notches. I think I ended up 6 notches.
My problem may have been the new shoes, but I finally got both to work OK, but I don't think either would pass a PV!
