I'm researching the engine history of my '57, #6179.
It was owned by the late Dave Ferguson in southern California during the nineties. He was very active in the NCRS, and had this car judged at a chapter meet in 1999. I'm hoping someone here was a close friend during that period. I'd like to know what engine was in the car when Dave bought it from the (deceased) original owner in 1990. It currently has a decked 283 block that runs well.
I don't know if the original owner or Dave installed this block. If the decking was done by the original owner, then the block is worth an expensive rebuild because it might be the original. Otherwise, it's just a good-running 283 to drive... until it isn't.
Can anyone here help me learn more about the history of this block? My email address is jerrybramlett@comcast.net. My phone number in the Central Time Zone is (251) 478-4003. I'm sorry, but I don't "text". Thanks for telling me anything you can remember.
