Removal of 66 AC RH Air Vent Assembly (inside fender)

What's the trick to removing the RH air vent assembly on a 1966 C60 car? This is the metal assembly containing the vent door that sits behind the outer AC air box and wraps to the RH air vent. I've removed all the engine compartment nuts and an interior bolt (very difficult to get to) but the entire assembly is still very tightly held. The AIM and Service manual are not helpful at this point...

    Robert,
As you can see in the picture there is a gasket that may be stuck to the firewall, there is also a gasket at the vent. I didn't have any trouble getting mine out, you have to rotate the top out before the adapter will come out. I did mine while the body was off the frame.
    Kind regards

THANK YOU! How did you reinstall the inner bolt? I lost about 5 layers of skin getting it out... Previous owner decided coating inner vent surfaces with caulk would help somehow. Thank God for the two post lift I recently purchased!!!

        Robert,
Are you refering to the nuts that hold the outer air box to the firewall or the the one inside the car? I had my heater out before I removed the AC parts.
        Kind regards.

I'm referring to the interior bolt that attaches the assembly to the birdcage. It's accessed from the engine compartment side and is located on the rear surface of the assembly and roughly in line with the upper door hinge. I have the inner and outer boxes removed (as well as everything else in the engine compartment) so I have good access to everything. The previous owner smeared silicone caulk over and around the inner vent door gaskets so its possible something may be hidden. It may be that everything is "glued on" so it just seems like there's another fastener present. Thank You!

            Robert,
That's interesting, I don't remember having to take out any bolt that looked like that. I removed the AC box from the engine side of the firewall, then used a putty knife to break the seal at the firewall and the kick panel and then worked the adapter out.
I went through my pictures but I don't have anything else, sorry.
            Kind regards

              Robert,
I think that bolt only secures the fiberglass cowl to the "A" pillar for the birdcage. It should not have anything to do with the AC adapter box.

Thank you! I got it out. There was quite a bit of sealant gluing it in place. The bolt didn't need to be removed, it was a body panel bolt!
