A very sad story, and a lesson in Caveat Emptor......thanks for letting us know about this.

All in all I think that is quite a good looking reproduction shock absorber. And I think that any good mid-year chassis judge would recognize it as a reproduction, and give it full credit. As for how AFC does business, I cannot comment. When I have bought from there, I had no complaints. I think I have heard that with some exceptions, people have generally been happy dealing with AFC.

I was very happy with their 67 bolt on aluminum wheels, and they replaced one that was scratched in shipping without any hassle.

The numbers are WAY TOO HIGH... never seen any delco shock with any printing so high, most were spirals at the time and you wouldn't have been able to stamp anything up on the body.

With that caveat, the shocks are really nice looking,
The part number characters are VERY close, if not dead on, I would need to see the 4, 5, and 6 of a repro in order to tell FOR SURE.

The PLIACELL characters individually are physically too wide. The height looks correct however they should be narrower, whomever stamped the shocks ensured the wording physically occupied the same amount of space as a set of originals, however they had to tighten up the character spacing in order to carry it off.
The E and L are the giveaways... they are nearly touching on the repro whereas with the original there is space.
