Re: Voltage Regulator Capacitor
If the condition bothers you, then i would source (easy to do) another original one that is in better condition (while still being an original with patina) and not lose a minute's sleep over it. No harm. They're cheap as dirt too to find. I removed my original gas tank on my silver 67 to preserve the tank sheet and sourced another original 67 gas tank to put in my car so the replacement tank matched the patina of the underside while still being an original, factory installed piece, albeit in another 67. Best of both worlds....ARA- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator Capacitor
Jim, you beat me to it! This stuff gives amazing results. I've used it on a few parts in the engine compartment and found that it comes very close to duplicating the factory zinc plated finish.- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator Capacitor
Thanks Jimmy, Phillip and Harry. I’ve not heard of Rub n Buff before but I’m going to give it a try based on your recommendations. Also plan to use it on the horn relay cover that I just cleaned up. There are about 14 different colors available. Is it the “silver leaf” color that you’ve used? Are there other colors you’ve used for other parts and finishes? Also how has it held up over time and operation?

Re: Voltage Regulator Capacitor
Michael, yes, "Silver Leaf" is what I used. I have also used the "Gold Leaf" for other applications and found it to work equally well. As far as durability is concerned, I have used the Silver Leaf on the voltage regulator base and capacitor, horn relay cover, vacuum can and accel. arm which is attached to the firewall. These parts were done 2 years ago and still look about the same as when they were done, but things are pretty well protected inside the engine compartment, so not sure how well it would hold up if exposed to the elements.
