    C2 340 HP Camshaft

I would appreciate information on a source for a replacement cam for my 340 HP car.
    Thanks Rich

Did you contact Crane, Seal Power, Howards, Blue Racer, Federal Mogal, there are lots of places that have off the shelf or will grind you one.

      Hello Gene
No I have not. I was looking to see if I could find someone who had purchased one recently and was happy with the outcome. But, I am familiar with some of the manufactures, but I have not purchased a cam in a number of years.

        Rich:

Federal Mogul /Speed Pro #CS-113R should be the exact cam you need. Recommended by many on NCRS and Corvette Forum Tech Boards. Cam is also available from NCRS Driveline advertiser Jeff Reade: https://www.ncrs.org/contact/ad_deta...nybMig7zBDMKko

Another question to ask is where you can find the edge orifice lifters that were used with the solid lifter camshaft of the era.

The Duntov cam was designed for small port 265/283 heads and is not well matched to the big port 327 heads. A better choice is the LT-1 cam, Federal Mogul CS-1178R. I don't know of a source for the edge orifice lifters. The big block piddle valve lifters will work without issues, although they provide about 20 percent more oil flow to the rocker boxes, which is really not necessary on small blocks, but does no harm.

If you massage the OE heads you can get close to 300 SAE corrected RWHP at 6500 with a useable power bandwidth to 7200, which is the point of incipient valve float with the '67-up OE valve springs - FM VS677. Of course, replace the spindly, prone to failure, OE early 327 rods with aftermarket rods like the Eagle SIR 5700.

I call the above the "327 LT-1" configuration and several have been built over the years. Since all modifications are internal they are not detectable during judging, and LT-1 cam idle behavior is indistinguishable from the Duntov cam.

Edge orfice lifters are available from your Speedpro supplier. Part #AT840R.

I followed Duke's advice several years ago when I rebuilt my 340 and could not be happier with the results.

I think the AT840R edge orifice lifters have been discontinued for a long time. As far as I know, they were the last available edge orifice lifters in the marketplace.
