1960 Initial production

Black Book & NCRS Corvette Specification Guide list October 59 with 1,168 units as first month.

This is far more than the initial month units of 1958 (486) or 1959 (632).

Birthday Book shows 584 units built in September 1959.

There was a steel strike that caused Flint engine production to stop October 14 and St. Louis Corvette production to stop November 10 but that should not have affected initial month production.

Any thoughts or additional information is appreciated.

John, if I could add to this -

If anyone has an early 1960 car, up to VIN 1,168, and are willing to share any photos they may have of the assembly stamp and/or block casting date, we would be very interested in seeing them.
