    Center Console Retaining Bolt finish?

    I am attempting to clean up some details on my car.
    One of the details is cleaning up the left over fasteners.

    I am wondering about my center console retaining bolt finish for a 1963?
    I have what I believe is the original and a new replacement.
    I am amazed when they get all the details correct down to the finish and head markings.
    Although the head marking on the reproduction is much easier to see...
    As you can see the length, point style, captive washer and head markings all match.
    I am not convinced the plating is correct on the replacement as I can find no remaining residual plating on the original.

    The replacement is zinc plated and on the bottom of the picture.

    My questions are;
    Is this the correct bolt for the center arm rest?
    Is this bolt used elsewhere?
    What is the finish supposed to be black or zinc?

    The original bolt head is pictured below;

    They are 1/4 X 3/4 NC and have a 3/8 head.

    Richard,

    That looks like the same bolt as the hood support to inner fender and fiberglass dash frame to birdcage (located under the garnish moulding).

      I'd not use the cad plated bolt. the no-finish or black phos fastner looks original to me. mike

        If you can supply a part number your question should be easy to answer.

          The bolt used along the windshield securing the hat shaped brackets for the trim are zinc plated. The part number should be compared to see if it is the same. But the bolt in your photo appears to be zinc chromate. The originals did not have a chromate treatment only zinc.
