Its been many years since I have been active with NCRS or the forum so sorry in advance if this has been covered. The returns on the forum searches have turned up old posts but nothing recent.
For my 1969 50'th I figured it is time to rechrome the original rear bumpers. The car is unrestored but the rears are just shabby with an area where the chrome is lifting and spiderwebs of scratching. The front bumper was rechromed some time in the late 70's and in nice shape so it makes the rears stand out poorly.
First - how do you talk to the chromer so that they are not destroying the original shape of the bumper to "improve" the fit & finish from original?
Second - any chrome shop recommendations in the Northeast? I see one advertiser in the driveline but sending bumpers out to an unknown isn't appetizing. In RI most chromers are set up for jewelery rather than Corvette restoration.
Thanks again
