Late 1957 Fuse panel hits dash brace

I have a August car with the dash braces . There are 3 holes in the firewall were the fuse panel goes . If you install it on the 2 inboard screws italmost hits the the dash brace . The distance on the third outboard hole is in the right place for the fuse panel also . But when put there the wires are a little short . Could the outboard hole be where they moved the fuse panel out to clear the brace. I can stretch the wires and make it work there.
