I looked through my AIM tonight for the part number for the water pump to a/c and A.I.R. pump belt. That combination doesn't seem to be in the AIM. Not looking for a GM belt, just a replacement. Anyone know the size? Part number for the original would help if the size is unknown so I can cross it over. Thanks!

The original part number was GM #3921905. This was a belt of 49-1/2" length and an oddball 15/32" width. GM replaced it with a belt of 49-1/2" length and 7/16" width. It's discontinued, too, but you should be able to find such a belt pretty easily in he aftermarket. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: '72 LS-5 Belt question
I do not know. GM never specified in parts information what convention was used. However, I think that the difference between effective length and outside circumference is close enough that for this application it will make no significant difference. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: '72 LS-5 Belt question
Thanks for the belt size. Going to finally pick one up today and put it on later.
Since owning my car I haven't had an A.I.R. pump on it. Since there is adjustment on the pump and the a/c compressor, is there a specific procedure to tighten the belt??- Top
