C2 rear license plate issue

The both of the retainers that hold the rear license plate in the frame contact the body before the rubber bumper does. Can anybody offer a solution?

Not certain what year your C2 is, but the rubber bumpers would be the same for any. The front bumper is quite thin, while rear one is at least twice a thick. Here they are shown for 63-65 from LICS. Sounds like you might have a thin bumper in the back, where you need the thick one.
