    Holley Carb

I have a 64 327/365HP car with a carb that I believe is the original. My car rolled off the line January 21st 1964.
My carb is numbered 3849804 List 2818 date 3A3. My concern is the numbers on the float bowls are different. I think they s/b 4150.
    Does this matter when judging?
Does anyone think the carb is incorrect?
    Thanks,

Rick, you will likely have a deduction, the Date is to early 3rd week of Jan. 63 , and the 2818 is not correct. 40% deduct, configuration and Date would be the norm.

Rick, the 3A3 is 1963, November, 3rd week. That is about 2 months prior to build which should be good, but I am not a judge. A 365 hsp 64 vette should have the Holley 2818. My judging manual says, Model: 4150, Metering block: Primary, 4094 and Secondary 4099. Post some photos, so we can take a look. Hope this helps!

John, you made me look, and yes the date is November, I sometimes think that A is Jan but in the case of the Holley carb. A is Jan. so the date is correct. thanks for setting me straight.

          Thanks,
At a chapter meet you may get by with the bowls but a regional probably not. Post up a few pics of the bowls in question and you will get some input.

Ed, I always do a double take on the "A" as well. January is always my first assumption too! Best, John.

Rick -- here's pics of the main body and metering blocks off a LIST 2818 I bought (and still have) at a Pomona (Calif) swap meet about 35 years ago; same as yours The primary block is 4094 and the secondary is 4099.

                  Re: Holley Carb

ED thanks for responding. According to my spec guide Holley used the numbers 1-9 for January through September, 0 for October, A for November and B for December.
First digit 3 is year 1963, second A is the month November and the third 3 is the week. My carb is 3rd week of November 1963 which I believe is the original carb being my car was built 1/21/1964. My concern is that the numbers on the front and rear float bowls are different and I wanted to know if that matters.

                    Re: Holley Carb

Thank you Wayne, I have a 6343 primary and a 4099 secondary. Exact same numbers as yours on the air horn. I have the right carb but the primary block is not correct. I have to locate one before I have the carb rebuilt.
                    Any suggestions on a rebuilder?

I have a 1965 Holley carburetor number 3849804, List 2818-1, metering blocks 4094 and 4099, but the date code numbers are 123. What date do those numbers correlate to?

                          Thanks,

                          James

                              Rick,

I could be wrong but the date code of 123 could also be for 1971 and more likely. They didn't switch to the 4 digit code until 1973, and I don't think they were producing a 2818 for a 64-65 Corvette in 1961. More likely a service replacement in 1971
