I'm trying to figure out why my 67 shifter boot (4spd) didn't fit right. It's all crimped up on one side. It came with the car when I bought it. I can't seem to find any "different sizes" on the part guys' websites. So... before I break out the jigsaw (KIDDING!). What am I missing?

Re: 67 shifter boot size?
There are no sizes to select from...one is it. There are some real junky repro's out there. Attached is a GM boot and you can see how smooth it is on the sides and top. The rubber is thicker and of better quality than lots of repro's so it wants to stand up and stay smooth. If you provide a picture like the one attached, we might be able to tell you more about what you have. Also, I just installed a repro boot from LICS that nearly has the look of an original. There are NOS ones for sale but salty prices.

Re: 67 shifter boot size?
1. sitting on top of the cutout
2. forced into the cutout
If you think there's one that might be a better fit... point me at it. Thanks!gary...

Re: 67 shifter boot size?
I installed a new boot this past spring. I used a Dremel tool to slightly enlarge portions of the fiberglass hole for proper fitment of the boot.- Top

Re: 67 shifter boot size?
Put the screws thru the retainer and then thru the shift boot on the work bench first and then you will see what you have. The screws won't fall out that way. Then elongate a hole or two in boot if you need. No one will see it.Avatar--My first ever vette, owned 3X since 1977, restored 1993-2024. Top Flight Award 9/14/24- Top
