1993 won David Hill Mark of excellence award. What does this mean?

I recently purchased a 1993 with 40th anniversary package, 6 speed, convertible. It won top Flight national, regional, performance Verification, and David Hill mark of excellence award
What does this mean? It was my brother in laws since new. We purchased it to keep it in the family.

This award was created by the National Corvette Restorers Society in honor of Mr. David C. Hill, Chief Engineer for the Chevrolet Corvette from November 18, 1992 until his retirement January 1, 2006. The Hill Award recognizes individuals for the restoration and preservation of 1993 - 1999 Corvettes._. To achieve this coveted award, an owner must attain a judging score of at least 97% out of 100 based on an original "as manufactured" standard at a National or Regional NCRS event; as well as present the car for a rigorous performance test of all vehicle mechanical components and functions, all of which must operate as those of a new car, without a single failure. Finally, the car must again score at least 97%, at a National NCRS Convention, to receive the Hill Award. The process of achieving the Hill Award requires attendance at a minimum of three events, and must be completed within a three year period. Only 38 Corvettes have achieved the Hill Mark of Excellence. Dave Hill has personally awarded the special plaque bearing his name at our annual NCRS National Convention.

The Hill Award is equivalent to the Duntov and McLellan Awards for those models built during their times as chief engineer. The criteria listed by Arland are the same for all.

Nice complete answer, one question I have is how do you know "only 38 cars have a hill award" are those numbers posted some place that is accessible to all or are you estimating?

The number is on the NCRS site. The number is actually 41 according to the NCRS magazine I received last week.
