    63-74 SB Reproduction Oil Pan

I just bought this "correct" 4 qt oil pan from one of the Corvette retailers for my 65 300HP. The depth of the rear seal is 2 1/4" versus the 2 3/8" for the service replacement pans.

There are 8 originality and 7 condition points available for the pan and plug.

My original pan has a stripped plug threads and some decent sized dents so I will probably try to fix it an eventually use it but for now I am thinking I will use this pan.

I have seen kind of beat up original pans go for about $500 which is twice what I paid for this pan.

I am interested in hearing what members think of it and how they think it will judge.

Here are photos versus an original pan.

For a 4 quart pan? I think not. That is the typical price for a 5 quart pan and often less.

Darryl - I believe the 4 qt pan was used in 65 on the 300hp engine as part of a 5 qt system since 1 qt was in the filter. What do you think a decent original sells for ? I think they are hard to come by.

Yes, and a 5 quart pan is a 6 quart system used on the 365 and 375 h.p. engines. The 250/300 h.p. 4 quart pan is the same as a passenger car and plentiful. If I needed one I would not pay more than $100. and would expect that it would be in pretty nice condition.

Keen, not Ecklers, was the company that had these pans reproduced.

Agree it's Keen. The other parts houses get it from him.

Yep, I couldn't remember which one had it made. But when I bought mine form Paragon I made sure it was the Keen pan. I was happy with the pan.

The 1963-74 "4 quart" pan was NOT the same as passenger car. This pan was exclusive to Corvettes and never used for any other application.

For 1975-79, the L-48 pan was the same as many passenger cars
