Hello all. I am a new member and first time poster.
I recently purchased a 1982 Corvette (not a Collector Edition). It has 20,000 miles on it and I love it. Of course, it has its share of little problems, mostly electrical that I am in the midst of sorting out. I am struggling, however, with the cruise control.
Note, this is the cruise control with the resume feature (but not the tap up tap down feature available in later years). I performed all of the diagnostic procedures outlined in the Chevrolet Service Manual and everything checks out (including the switches on the turn signal lever) except the resistance amounts for the transducer. Thus, I believe the problem lies in the transducer. The transducer in the car (which appears to be the original, not a replacement) has a two prong connector at the top (one for hold and the other for engage). In trying to locate a re-built replacement from the usual vendors (Eckler's, Corvette Central, Zip, etc.) they have varying descriptions for the transducer, some say there is a three prong electrical connector at the top (and the pictures depict three prongs) and other vendors say there is a two prong electrical connector at the top (and the pictures depict two prongs). My transducer has two prongs, not three. My VIN is 1G1AY878XC5117608 and it was built very late in June 1982. Maybe Chevrolet changed the transducer type late in the model year to a three prong after my Corvette was built.
Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the 1982 transducers were two or three prong or if three prong was a late model year change?
