In The JM says they are recesed heads with flat washers. The AM says they have lock washers and it looks like a hex head bolts . The recessed bolts have a built in lock on them so no lock washer would be needed .Maybe it was a late change .In the JM idtshows a picture of the pop ups with recessed headed bolts . I do not see the flat washer so would the flat washers be SAE with the smaller OD and that's why they are not visible .

Re: 1957 Hood pop ups bolts and awashers
Hi Dan
The JM has wording issues in several places. This may be one of them. Per the JM, "Hood rests (pop-ups) have a slot head adjustment screw and are mounted with recessed flange head hex bolts and flat washers. Pop-Ups are bolted to radiator support, under the fan shroud, with recess flange hex head bolts."
The second sentence does not include the washers.
In the bolt chart at the end of the JM it says: (Hood Pop Up to Radiator Support 2 Circle C Recess Flange Hex 5/16") There is no mention of flat washers.
I obtained the 2 Circle C recessed flange hex bolts from one of the suppliers. I installed the bolts without washers. I will see how it judges in the spring.

Re: 1957 Hood pop ups bolts and awashers
If I understand Dan's question correctly he can choose to believe the JM or the AIM.
1. The Aim very clearly shows pop up mounted to radiator support with bolt PN 122007 this is a zinc hex head 5/16 x 18 x 3/4 bolt (not recessed) and washer PN 120214 which is a zinc 5/16 lock washer.
2. The JM DOES NOT list any part number, could this indicate maybe something is not right ???- Top

Re: 1957 Hood pop ups bolts and awashers
The bolts I have came from Paragon p/n 747 5/16-18 X 3/4 "C".
I couldn't find the 2 circle "C".
