1961 truck and covetable cover hinge spring adjustment
I am in process of a body off restoration on my 61 FI BB car. The time has come to put the convertible top deck cover back on. The trunk lid is not installed yet. I am trying to follow the procedure in the ST-12 and am a little confused at this point. When I move the convertible top deck lid to full open and achieve the 1/8 inch clearance with the rain gutter I find I need to move the lower spring bolt up to meet the bracket.I believe I am adjusting the correct spring as shown in the ST-12. When i do this the deck lid won't stay open. Do I need to have the trunk lid installed while I adjust the convertible top lid spring. Any hints or experience others of you have had while adjusting these springs? I'd appreciate all suggestions.

On my "62, you can't have both the trunk lid and the convertible top lid open at the same time. I would think the '61 is the same. Get your trunk lid adjusted properly for fit, them close it and see if your convertible lid will stay up. I'm betting it will. Hope this helps.Comment
