    1970 LS-5 valve covers

They have one metal clip on the driver side and two metal clips on the passenger side. On the driver side I used that one clip, whether right or wrong, for the nail head temperature sensor switch harness. On the passenger side there are two, one near the intake and one toward the firewall nearest the spark plugs. The lower one is unused on mine. I wondered if a previous design was originally intended it for the TCS solenoid harness. I used the upper valve cover clip for the TCS solenoid harness. I already Iooked on the NCRS technical discussion board for a discussion about those clips on the valve covers and found nothing there. What are those three clips actually for?

    Thanks,
    Scott Sims

What do you mean my "nail head temperature sender"? If you mean a BUTTON HEAD (i.e. appears like the drive end of a nail), I don't think that's correct for 1970. I believe that 1970 used a PIN HEAD temp sender as was used for 1968-69.

You’re correct on the temperature sensor type. Pin head sensor is what I have. I was more focused on getting answers on the intent of the valve cover metal clips. Would you know what the purpose of those LS-5 valve cover and clips are for?

        Thanks,

Sorry, I'm not sure about the clips.

Just a guess here, because I have never had the pleasure of owning a fat motor Corvette.

Driver's side is as you have it
Passenger side nearest the intake is for the electrical wire to the TCS solenoid. Clip on the outboard side is for the green wire to the temperature sender for the TCS system.

Is ther no help in the 1970 AIM?

            I've wondered about these too.

1 clip on LH cover near exhaust: Not used? It's too far back for the temperature sensor lead.

2 clips on RH cover near intake: I believe these are for the TCS solenoid leads.

1 clip on RH cover near exhaust: Not sure. I've seen several cars using this for the TCS temperature sensor lead.
