    C1 Cowl Vent Screen Repair

I have a bent and broken area in my wire screen mesh on my fresh air/cowl vent on my 60. Does anyone know how to repair this ?

On e way to do this is to find another damaged cowl vent and carefully chisel off the screen area piece and then apply that piece to your cowl vent after removing the damaged screen. I have found a close screen match in an old hardware store inventory; however, it was not spot on.

I was thinking that I would find a used cowl vent with a good screen and paint to match mine but wanted to see if there was a way to replace the screen first with donor material of some kind but sounds like that was not the intent when they manufactured this part.

If you can find a good used cowl: that may be the route you want to take; as the redo is fairly tedious.

If you are interested in originality pay close attention to how the one you take out is painted particularly the hinges. They were installed on the car at the time. Also note the orientation of the small carriage bolts. Best of luck with your project.

Roger that, I will keep close eye. I was going to paint mine with white overspray as my car is white when I noticed the small tear.
