    Garage fumigation

Our garage is being fumigated for drywood termites with Vikane Gas Fumigant (Sulfuryl Fluoride.) Dow Chemical says leaving my cars in the building will not damage the Corvettes. Should I leave the cars in the garage?

    Thanks, Ken

If me, to be safe, I would move all cars out during fumigation.

Why risk damage to the finish?

I would agree with Mark - I had the house in Calif tented and fumigated a few years ago - I moved all the cars outside. I wasn't as worried about the paint as all the rubber and plastic pieces.

I left my '65 conv. in the garage during fumigation. Afterwards, my plastic steering wheel was sticky, as was the top's back window. Even my Craftsman screwdriver handles were sticky and had a weird smell. Over the coarse of the next year my polyurathane spring cushions, strutrod bushings, and trailing arm bushings all turned to gravel and fell out. I don't know what else could've caused it. They used Vikane gas. I would'nt recommend leaving your car in

If my Corvettes don't have termites, they're not getting fumigated. But, that's just me.

My vote is cars and other important stuff outside. Rain is always "water soluble". Chemicals, not always. As always, Have fun!!

If you have a Morgan or a Marcos, leave it in the garage.

I am moving the cars outside. I also have a few Craftsmen plastic screwdriver handles that smelled weird and were sticky for a long time after the house was tented about 20 years ago. I never understood how it happened.
I thank all for your help.
