This area has always been a puzzle to me. The small stainless round part that you see sticking out from the corner fuss. How does it connect to the door panel fuzz, (which has not been attached to the door panel yet). I've seen some cars where this piece is just cut off and some with it somehow fits inside the door fuzz . There is no way that can happen with my panels. And it's not because they are repo's because the upper metal plates are original with Knock covers. My car is in the 7000 range so I do not know if you call that early or late. At any rate can someone post a picture of the correct way this goes together. The only way I see doing it is just cutting the SS flush with the fuss but before I cut I want to make sure. The red tape is a way of protecting paint on door frame.

I asked the same question a while back and Rich Mozzetta sent me these pictures of his split window...long since sold.
I'm here to tell you tho - its hard to get that fit with the reproduction panels from my experience..

I have the same issue. If you drill a hole in the top stainless at end of the panel it looks like it would work and look like the picture Frank posted. But it doesn't! Because you have to insert the w/s tail and then slide the door panel towards the door jam and then it's too high. You will end up bending the w/s.
I have the stock panels and they have small holes in the ends. I'll see if I can find the pictures I took of this area. I am not sure these holes were used for the w/s but they could be. The stock holes were too small to fit the ends of the w/s I have into without enlarging them. As it it is I don't know how to get them together and have them look correct.
I purchased one NOS 63 weather-strip and a aftermarket set. I believe the NOS was messed with as it didn't have the clip that goes into the hole in the door. I do know if you play with them too long you will bend or tear the small stainless piece that extends from the w/s.
If you could them together getting them apart again, without damaging the w/s, seems impossible with the information I have now.
This is a unfinished area on my car at this time. No one has noticed so far but it hasn't been judged either.Comment
