    53-55 radio

Radio started to blow fuses. The last time the radio worked it melted the transformer on the speaker power pack. Any ideas on why this happened? Since then I removed the speaker assembly and tried the radio buttons. Buttons do not move station indicator bar. Does the speaker power pack need to be connected to the radio to have the buttons work?

I'm guessing a bit here...I think it does not need to be, John.

The power line goes to the powerpack which then feeds the tuner/receiver. So the signal seeking function, which is electric, will not work without the powerpack. But I think the tuner should move when buttons are pushed as that is a manual rather than electric station selection function.

What happens when you try to tune by just turning the stations tuning knob?
