One of the Camaro Research Group members has found a 1963 split window Corvette that's supposedly a Z06. HERE'S THE LINK.

Can someone a lot more knowledgeable on the C2's give him some help?

Without looking at the 63 it would take an idiot to stick his neck out and say one way or the other.
Then again you or this guy will get some people answering.

Ed, since there are so few of these cars you actually need to be on the car to make a decision. Is it real or is it memorex? We just had a chapter member buy a Z06 that was not in the registry. When he started to take it apart we had several chapter members there and a Z06 owner. It had all the components and markings in the correct configuration to tell us it was born a Z06. Lot's of films and pictures when we dropped the gas tank and removed the radio side panels. There are the parts. Then there is the crayon marks and the handwriting of the marks. Apparently there was a crew of special guys assigned to these cars, best guess.

Thanks Harry. I'm not sure what Danny's intentions are at this time. He may be just curious or he may be interested in buying it. I just don't know. I'll see if I can get more of a feel for what he's looking for and pass it along. If he's interested in buying it, I would imagine getting him in touch with the local NCRS chapter would be a good start.

Ed, good idea. We had a 63 coupe at a chapter meet this year. It was FI, HD Suspension, Dual MC, P/B etc. First glance one would say it was a Z06. As the Chapter Judging Chairman it was my responsibility to tell him he needed to do more research as we did not believe the car was born a Z06. This was a delicate and tough conversation. As I said you need to be on the car to know what it is.

Ok guys. Danny gave me permission to post the pictures here, so take a look. Right now he's not even sure the car's for sale, but he at least wants to validate the engine pad and the trim tag.

Hi Ed,

I'm currently restoring a '63 Z06 car. There are some specific items to look for that are detailed in Tony Avedisian's Z06 book: https://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Definit...-/122673235529

The master cylinder in the picture looks correct, but doesn't necessarily mean it's a Z06 car.

Hi John,

I own the book and believe it we.. worth the price. Several friends also own it and agree. There is tremendous amount of information on the Z06 cars along with regular production 63's. I am extremely happy and grateful Tony and his co-authors took the time to put it all together and in print. If you have a chance to view one I think you will agree, well worth the price.

I have restored a couple of Z06 cars and can tell you they are very unique animals. Some very minute details that are easily over looked. I was lucky in that both cars were original cars, one unmolested down the the paint.

I agree with all the comments here, a detailed, up close examination is required by someone with knowledge of these cars, and the new Z06 book is really worth its' weight in gold for us Z06 owners and hunters........
