    Delco radio repair

My stock 1974 Delco AM/FM stereo radio is in need of repair (volume control). Can someone give me the name and contact info. of a good repair shop ? Any recommendations ? I did a search, but the most recent post about Delco radios was July of 2016. Does Jerry Rudbeck still work on Delco's ? I am the original owner. Thank you.

It's not in similar threads, but I remember a thread on this topic in the past few months which had a few recommendations. Also check Restorer/Driveline.

I've been told more than once that Jerry is out of the business - others can confirm...
      Darn shame if its true.

CGR Restorations in Anderson, SC did a ‘66 Chevelle AM/FM with the multiplex for me. Did a nice job. They advertise in the Driveline. Their # 864-642-9308

I believe those on/off volume pots are obsolete now. I have been looking for one without luck now for a year. If you have any luck let me know.

I am pretty sure Jerry has hung up his amp meter probes. He restored my radio about 2 years ago and at that time he told me that mine was the last one he would be doing. Unfortunate, he was a wizard, but an enjoyable retirement is well deserved.

I have a 74' convertible and had my radio repaired several years ago by Precision Stereo Repair which is located in New Hartford, New York. He did a good job and the cost of the repair was very reasonable. If you want more info. you can google the company name. Footnote: I remember talking to him before I sent him my radio and he strongly suggested that I send it by the US mail system and not UPS or Fed-ex. He said he had much better luck with USPS in not damaging the radios in shipping. Hope this helps.

I spoke with them yesterday. Did you have your radio modified to improve bass, treble, and power ? Thanks for the info. Glenn Demakes

                  Re: Delco radio repair

I did not have the radio modified as part of my repair. About the only other thing I can add is that the repair cycle was fairly quick. As I recall I got the radio back in about two weeks. Also no damage was done during shipping but I did ship it with a lot of packing materials to protect the radio.

I recommend Greg at S&M Electro-tech. He has repaired numerous radios, clocks, tachs, window motors, etc. for me and I've been very happy with the results.
