GM #3960709 and GM #3960710 were once-available big block headers available in SERVICE. They were never installed on a PRODUCTION Corvette. These parts were released sometime during the 1969 model year; they were not even available during the 1967 model year.

What the manufacturing history of these parts was I do not know.

I recall from the Chevrolet Power Manuals that the GM OTC big block racing exhaust system was made by Kustom Headers. Hooker also made a similar system with slip in mufflers for the side pipes... had a friend back then with this system on a '67, but I think it was only sold through the aftermarket, not GM.

The Z28 had Kustom (yes with a K) headers available OTC GM but were never installed on the assembly line. Same throughout 68-69. Not like this helps but I surmise Kustom was considered an OEM supplier similar to Winters, AC Delco, etc.

A friend's roomate had these on his Vette made by Kustom. The Hookers were/are different I have a Kustom flyer somewhere with these advertised. Steve

Kustom also manufactured the 409 stainless try-wye header that was factory installed on all Cosworth Vegas.

Easy way to identify the difference between Hooker and Kustom. The two supports on the side pipes are flat steel on Hookers, the Kustoms were a stamped steel channel. I had to go look, I still have a pair of NOS Kustom side pipes (no headers)

Not specific to Corvettes, there's a lot of good information on the CAMARO RESEARCH GROUP site regarding factory headers.
