I have installed a new fuel gauge and a new sending unit. Before installation I verified that the resistance was 0-90 ohms through the sending unit. The issue is that when the tank is empty, verified by visually checking, the gauge reads almost empty, but when I added 5 gallons of fuel the needle on the gauge barely went above full. It also when filling the tank the needle does not display full, maybe just over 3/4 full. How do I calibrate the gauge to the sending unit? Bend the arm? Remove the gauge and then remove the needle to display the more correct fuel level?

The fuel gauge and Speedo are now corrected.

About 30ish years ago I had replaced the sending unit with another original, but after a few years later it to gave up working. I thought it was the gauge so I replaced the gauge with a GM replacement. Then about 10 years or so ago I had to replace the sending unit with a repop. This when I paid closer attention to the gauge's operation.
So now I replaced the gauge with my old original and am still using the new repop. Now the gauge needle deflection goes all the way to E and all the way to Full.

The speedo was sent to Joe Ray, along with the tach. He calibrated both and returned quite promptly. Operations of both are bow perfect. Thanks Joe!
