I didn't know that but it makes sense. The wiring and connector for the hatch release switch were present in the door of my convertible and the connector was capped off. I would surmise that if I installed a switch, it would release the convertible hatch.

My vague recollection is that some C4 convertibles did have the electrical release for some functionality and used the same switch as coupes for that purpose. I could be mistaken, though.
