1964 Owners operations manual- Second Edition?

The fifth edition of the JMG states that there was only a first edition Owners Operations Manual for the '64 model year. Knowing that this is an old JMG and knowing that new information is discovered, is this still the definitive belief? I have what I believe to be the original "second edition" for my mid-June '64 coupe and have seen at least two "advertised as original" second edition manuals on ebay and am trying to sort it out. Anyone else out there have an original second edition '64 ops manual?

I believe Alan Drake has his original 2nd ed. I have mine, both are March 64 cars.

Dan, thanks for your reply and I am so glad to hear that there was a second edition and that the JMG information is incorrect. Any idea if this has been updated in the newer 6th edition?

Mine still has the Corvette News card attached, pictures are clear and appropriately well worn. From my research, reproductions don't or can't include the Corvette News card and the pictures are a little blurry. Besides, with this information out there and people using it to judge cars by, who would print a reproduction manual that says second edition?

It sounds like you have a great car and love to drive it. Fantastic! Thanks.

I believe that the misconception for the 64 Owners Manual was caused by the distribution of Original Owners Manuals 1st edition after the model year or later in the 64 run.
These three pictures show an original owners manual (check the hub caps are crisp) 1st edition.

Ray, so what I hear you saying is that they continued to use first editions late into production and even after production of the '64 model year? Does this mean then that they also used second editions during this time period. There seems to be knowledge of two March cars and mine is a June car that would somehow substantiate this correct? My cover pic (wheels) are very clear along with other understood documented proof that says this is original.

Why did they create a second edition? What is the difference between the two of them?

Re: 1964 Owners operations manual- Second Edition?

I have original second edition manuals in my May and June '64 built cars, that have been through regional and nationals judging, no deductions. I don't think this is a problem for most judges.

Michael, thanks for the confirmation. I know personal knowledge of judges usually over-ride what's in the JMG at Regional and National events, and I suspect most of them know there was a second edition. Darryl asks a great question. Can anyone answer it?
