    1955 pv

Preparing for altoona PV on my 55. PROBLEM - My radio light will come on only when light switch in parking light or headlight position. PV manual states that radio light will illuminate and dim with the headlight switch in the park position, Key in lock position with radio knob rotated in on position. Note radio will not be on unless key in on position
My radio light only comes on and dims with light switch in parking light or headlight position . Also the radio knob must be in on position with key in any position.
The only rheostat is on my PL terminal of my light switch . Appreciate HELP!! Lynn

I believe your radio light is working correctly.....
The power source for the radio light is the instrument light power. They are on when either the park or headlights are on, AND the rheostat(dimmer) has been rotated for the instrument lights to be on.

That power source (rheostat controlled) is then fed to the radio on/off switch thru a dedicated contact on the radio switch which is independent of the power supply for the radio on/off.

So, if you have the instrument lights on (headlight switch on) AND the radio on/off switch on, the radio light will be on. If the key (ignition switch is off the radio itself will be off as the power source for the radio comes from the ignition power source.

Another way of saying this is "if instrument lights are on AND the radio switch has been turned to the on position, then the radio light will be at the same intensity as the instrument lights. The ignition key can still be in the "off" position and the radio itself will be off"

If you have the radio switch off then the radio light will remain off even if the instrument lights are on.....

Speaking of PV: Are you able to turn your wiper on using just the dash knob? Or do you need to relieve the tension provided by the spring on the washer foot pump in order to turn the dash knob?

Turns on just with clockwise rotation of dash wiper knob.
