    '62 Wiper control knob

Does anybody know how to remove the aluminum push button from the chrome wiper control knob to facilitate polishing the aluminum button, and then re-installing it?

I think the person you need to contact is Tom or Jay Maxwell at Capital Auto Restoration. Both are members and experts at wiper problems, last number I had was 301-948-9481

Thanks for the reply Terry. I did ask Jay about this but he didn't really know either. Hopefully, somebody else has figured out a way to do this.

I wound up just polishing the knob and push button as an assembly. Used a good, non abrasive metal polish, sparingly and took my time. It turned out prety nice.

Yes Dad passed away a little over two years ago.
He would be proud his shop is still up and running restoring C1 washer systems.

Mike, I actually used a polish that Bruce Dell (Dell Metal Polishing, Hubbard, OH) gave me years ago when I picked up my stainless for my '66. I think it's probably something he packages under his name. I'm sure there are several commercially available products that will work for you.

By the way, Bruce is a super nice guy that does beautiful work.

By the way 2, without knowing a way to separate the knob and push button, Jay Maxwell is the one who suggested just polishing as an assembly. He's incredibly knowledgeable on C1 wiper/washer systems.
