73 Original Mufflers - Painted Black or Unpainted from Manufacturer

The 73-74 TIM&JG revision team is seeking documentation from original 73 owners as to whether or not the original mufflers that were on their car when delivered from St. Louis were already painted black or were they natural? We believe "Walker" was the manufacturer of the originals. There is no need to comment about the GM Service Replacement mufflers for 73 we have plenty of information on those. We have a couple conflicting opinions as to maybe the earlier cars might have had unpainted mufflers, then the later cars started showing up with the black original mufflers. Just trying to get things right for the revision.
I appreciate any input on this subject!
    73 Info needed:
What embossed numbers are on each side? Part numbers? GM? Date code?
Are embossments limited to the W-5 (Walker-number) format?
Are mufflers blackened and is it limited to the muffler are indications of overspray?
In general, it would be nice to see a photo!
