    2 things about the 63-65 A/C decal.

I was told that refrirerant was not spelled correctly on the decals. Webster only spells it that way! Where is it spelled regrigerent?

      Harry,
I have a decal just like that with refrigerant instead of refrigerent.

Dom, my understanding is that some of the original decals back in (1963-1965) had the spelling error. Refrigerent is not a word. Anyway, I went with the so called rumor and found the decal with the incorrect spelling at Paragon.

Maybe it's Paragon that can't spell?

take a look at no lands vol 2 , page 61 lower right corner. that caution label spells it refrigerant.. of course, no land may have used a repo caution label back in the late 70's early 80's when writing the book. Dobbins fact book on page 44 spells it per webster. mike

Here is one I sold on ebay. Was dated mid-1962. Looked like the original decal to me.

                Harry,
Right, I have a 61 in the shop that has the original decal on it spelled correctly, AND, found a repo from paragon that was spelled right and one that was spelled incorrectly. The one Paragon shows online is correct. They did call me a year or so ago after I asked them if they would take all the ones I had back. They said they had a peel and stick. The compressor owner bought one and sent it and it was terrible, couldn't read it and it said it was made foggy on purpose to resemble the original!
Now, I may have to post a new thread, but some parts I get say 63 to 75 A6 and some say 63 to 80something.
Question is, When did the A6 come out? I have one I am doing with the original decal, metal data plates, and 3 mount back plate that early 63 had.
It has a 61 date code on the front plate and back plate. Also I find some parts that say " fits early compressors".

Looked at my pictures of 64 AC Coupe 8477 and the original decal reads 'refrigerant'

                    Hi Dom,

Here's a few shots of that early '64 Corvette compressor that I was telling you about that I have. Pretty sure everything is original here excluding that non-Corvette muffler remnant that I bolted to it to keep out moisture way back when. Mike

Notice the "G 19 3" casting date at the bottom and not at the top just below the ports? The word "Refrigerant" is spelled correctly on this one. Sure looks real to me. Mike

                        Mike,
Looks real to me also, especially the 3 ONLY mounting.
