    67 coupe windshield question

I know, another midyear windshield question. But, I have researched all the archived posts and didn't find a clear answer but they did partially diagnose my situation. I plan on having my 67 coupe judged at Frisco. All the glass is dated and is correct except the windshield which was replaced. It's an A01, ac car so we're again at the "dreaded what tint is correct" discussion. However, the replaced w/s is a Shaded E-Z-Eye Safety Plate dated YV (appears to be Oct 69). From the archived posts, the E-Z-Eye glass was an OEM correct replacement as to shading but wasn't TFP for the 67 Corvette models in 1967. The blue tint ribbon looks correct to the JG pic as to it flaring out at the outer edges.

So here's the question: from what I have read, the ws in the car will only lose 20% of org points assuming condition is 100%. Or, should I go with the new Pilkington tinted ws dated correctly which could lose 50% of org points? Am I assuming correctly on the EZ Eye glass losing less points? Any 67 exterior judges care to lend me some guidance? I've only got 6 weeks to make a correction so I'm at a crossroads.
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: 67 coupe windshield question

John, I had the exact same situation on my '67 three years ago in Frisco. The windshield was an EZ Eye tinted windshield dated 11-68. It visually looked correct and lost 12 of 20 originality points. I later ended up lucking into a correctly dated tinted windshield. I'd leave the one you have in your car.

The windshield is a standard deduction part. According to the reference manual guidelines, you appear to have a OEM brand later service replacement style because of the E-Z-EYE instead of Shaded Soft ray. If the Shade band is correct then it should be a 30% decuction.
The current Pilkington shade band has an incorrect configuration so it is a 50% Std Deduct.
Jim Durham has been in touch with Pilkington(he has copied me on the emails) and they have information needed to correct the shade band and say they will but so far its been 2 years and no action. I would just leave your current windshield in.
I'm not sure how Tim got a 60% originality deduction on his windshield because the only options are 20, 30, 50, and 90%

Thanks Stewart, that's the info I was looking for. 30% of the 20 org pts would be 6 vs the current Pilkington version losing 50% or 10 pts. I'll keep it until Pilkington gets it right.

Unless pinkington puts the shade ast indicator between the glass as originals you will still be looking at the same deduction.

There's so many items that differentiate an original windshield to service and reproductions that i doubt any newer made one will ever receive no deducts. Just my opinion. ARA
