OK, working on the interior instead of under the hood is new territory for me. I would like to replace the steering wheel on my '62, but I see the hub is riveted to the wheel. New steering wheels come without the hub. Do I have to drill out the rivets to get the old hub off, or buy a new hub ($$$)? I see that suppliers sell a replacement rivet set where the "rivets" appear to be threaded and come with corresponding nuts. How do I get the old hub separated from the wheel so I can use these? This is all unplowed ground to me, so forgive the questions if this is pretty basic stuff. Thanks in advance for any advice and/or help.

Re: C1 steering wheel hub
If you want to use the old hub you need to drill out the rivets, which is a pain.
New hubs are available and the flat head screw type rivits look like the original rivets.
Also be sure your turn signal roll pins are OK, usually they are.
Personally I just use a flat head Philips screw with self locking nuts.
I have a few new hubs and screws if you are interested PM me.- Top
