The carburetor is a service replacement List 2818-1 on a 1965 L79 car. As shown in my photo, the K&B rebuild kit included one metering block gasket with a large U-shaped hole, and one without. Both of the gaskets (primary and secondary) that I removed from the carburetor had the large U-shaped hole, and appear to be identical to each other ... can I assume that this is this correct?
The new gasket without the U-shaped hole does not fit the alignment pins for either primary or secondary metering block, so I assume it is the wrong gasket. When I contacted the vendor that sold the rebuild kit, they were very helpful and agreed to send out another gasket with the U-shaped hole. However, the vendor opened the box to another rebuild kit, and it too had one gasket with the U-shaped hole, and one without. Is this a coincidence that two different rebuild kits have the wrong gasket, or am I mistaken that both gaskets (primary and secondary metering blocks) are the same, and should have the U-shaped opening?
Thanks
