The reservoir on my 65 327/300 is leaking and it appears to be the O ring that seals the can. I've just ordered a kit and my question is: once I've removed the pump can I just take the pump out of the can to replace the seal and leave the pulley in place on the shaft? The pump is new but I can't return it because I bought from an individual and not the rebuilder. I don't see any reason I can't do it that way but I wanted to ask and get a response from folks who have rebuilt pumps before.

Re: Power Steering Pump Leak
Bill, yes you can replace the o-ring seals with out removing the pulley.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Power Steering Pump Leak
Yes. However, inspect the reservoir and the pump body carefully to make sure the leak problem "doesn't go deeper" than the o-ring. If this is a previously rebuilt pump there's always the chance that there was some distortion of the reservoir or damage to the pump body casting, itself. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
