    70 wiper motor

Had my wiper motor rebuilt and have reinstalled in car. Am having trouble getting it to work. Switch checks out good along with switch ground. I noticed the wiper housing has voltage on it when wiring is hooked up. Is this normal? Rebuilder said it had a direct short and am wondering if he fixed that. I would like to get it operating and wiper arms adjusted before putting wiper door on. Is there a way to check the wiper relay under the console and what does it do? I don't have vacuum hooked up yet.
    Thanks for any suggestions

I'm a little worried for you since you mentioned the rebuilder said it had a short when you sent it for repair.

Since you mentioned your dash switch is functioning properly and your housing has 12v on it, here are a couple things to verify.

    1) Make sure your ground wire is really a ground and doesn't have 12v to it.
I have seen too many times the ground wire in the starter harness has been.hooked to the 12v post instead of to the starter mounting bolt.
(This will short the motor out).
( This will also cause the housing to show 12v instead of ground )

If step #1 checks out then proceed to following steps.

    2) Check that you have 12v going to the single red wire that comes from the wiper door limit switch on the firewall to the wiper motor.
(Limit switch must be depressed when door is open.)

    3) If you dont have 12v on the firewall switch, then Make sure that your ljmit switch under your steering column is in the ON position.

Lkely your starter connection is wrong. You have one of the wires on the solenoid causing voltage to the case. I had the same issue when I put the engine back in my car.

Send it to a real professional and get it fixed before you burn your Corvette down.

          Re: 70 wiper motor

Thanks much for your thoughts and suggestions. I will go back and recheck the wiring on the starter. After looking at several different wiring diagrams I discovered my wiper motor is missing the ground terminal. I only have the three wire plug and the single wire red wire connected. There is a black ground wire near the wiper motor and I have it hooked to the TCS relay by the wiper motor. This was missing when I got the car and had trouble figuring out which wires connected to it. After looking some other 70 wiper motors I see where the ground terminal goes and will connect the ground wire to it. I am still wondering if it will fix it. I will recheck the starter wiring first to make sure it is correct.
Am now not sure about correct wires to TCS relay. I see a green wire and dark blue wires but confused on the third wire. Again, thanks for all your help
