I have two spare 2268 generators both with the 4" pulley. Each pulley is slightly different . There is a small round reinforcement in the center of each pulley and each one has 6 holes in the outer diameter. One has round holes and the other has rectangular holes. Is this due to different manufacturers back in the sixties or is one original and the other a reproduction. I'd like to make sure I use an original . Thanks Rich

4" pulleys I used to buy at the local Chebby dealer 40 years ago consistently had the rectangular spot welds.
Every original pulley I've ever seen has the round spot welds.- Top

Re: 1962 generator pulley
Both pulleys are 4" Dia., what might be confusing is that one is not mounted on the armature but only leaning against it. What about the center reinforcing piece on each pulley? The 5 square holes Vs. the 5 round holes, is one a repo ?- Top

Re: 1962 generator pulley
Agree with Jim. Originals had round spot welds— repros have rectangular. Not sure, Jim, what you were buying from Chevy dealer—NORS or repro? Was that pre-reproduction days? I have an NOS one in the black and yellow box from the early years—it has round spot welds.
When I got my FI '60 in '79, these pulleys were still available NORS at Chebby dealers. I bought a few thinking I had discovered gold. Then I noticed the difference in originals and began a quest to find one of them.
All this was pre-reproduction times.
Since the repops have the rectangular spot welds, I can't help wondering if they might be left over late-vintage GM stock.
