1966 L79 Battery Replacement

My current battery - Delco DC 12 is at least 6 years old - was in the car when I purchased it. So far no problems and I religiously use the quick disconnect and battery tender when ever its not on the road. In anticipation of replacing it in the future I wondered if the Delco is still the best replacement from a judging perspective. The last Top Flight judging process gave it a standard 7 point deduct. I see that AAB still sells this battery. Thanks

This has been talked about a lot recently so a look through the archives may answer your question. When I had my car judged I bought a new Delco battery it got an automatic 50% deduction the battery is worth 25 points they deducted 12. If you buy the reproduction battery you will pay a lot more money and you may still get a deduction. A reproduction battery with no plant or date stamping is 10% deduct. Reproductions differing from original design slightly 30% deduct. Some of the judges will be able to detect a reproduction battery so you should figure at least a 7 point deduction.
