Good source for the wsw compartment sealer goop used in '69

Guys,

I'm getting ready to reassemble the wsw compartment on my 69 and wanted to know if anyone had a good source for the asphalt like sealer that was used on that area back then.

There was a very good article in the restorer a number of years back on making the sealer. It could be back as far as 6-8 years ago.

PS. Actually it was the goop for sealing the heater box but should be the same stuff.

Mike, in addition to Russ's advice I recall a thread on the Tech Board on this subject years ago. I believe the thread advised using a certain type of black roofing adhesive . A search of the Archives may find that thread.
