Looking at a car with the above code but has dark saddle leather seats. There is a line on the build sheet hard to read but is IVZP2AA Trim ____ color over-ride. Does this make sense?

Re: 71 interior code 417ar
I think that code makes sense and I have it on my tank sticker as well for my Red Saddle Vinyl 71 coupe. From my understanding this is what was done when a customer ordered a non-standard color & interior combination. As it has been explained to me the dealer got approval from the zone office to have the car produced and this is how it was kept track of throughout the production process. Any chance the car you are looking at is Red? Also FWIW I think 417 means the car was a saddle vinyl interior, not the deluxe. Does it have the standard door cards?

Hi. Yes, the car is red. It does have standard door panels which I thought was odd and says vinyl saddle at the top. The line with over-ride is near the bottom of the options list. I don't see where it says leather. The car was built right at the end of production.- Top

I would LOVE to see a copy of the tank sticker, and get any other information you have about this car (dealer, date of sale, date of production etc) and a photo.
Thanks!!- Top

Re: 71 interior code 417ar
Saddle vinyl was NOT standard with Red in 71, I think it was in 72 hence why zone offices approved it late in 71 my car is a mid June of 71. As for the codes themselves that requires someone with way more knowledge then my to understand.- Top

Re: 71 interior code 417ar
I am not sure that a Nov 71 sale date means it was a dealer order (rather then a customer order) although that does seem like a long time to sit for a customer delivery. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about this will chime in. I was always under the impression that these trim & color override cars had to be customer orders and I've always been under the impression that they are pretty to very unique. With that said I'd love to learn more about this process.- Top
