Factory provided docments on purchase of 2007 Corvette

I am attempting to acquire all of the documentation provided by the factory at the time of delivery, by the dealer or
museum of a 2007 Base LS-2 Corvette convertible. I think if I start early to put my machine ready for judging I will be far ahead and the cost will be less. I am in the process of finding belts, hoses, filters, both air and oil and anything else I may have forgotten. OK C-6 men help out this old guy. I have some of the documentation, but not all. I have ordered the build sheet to verify all of the RPO's for this vette.

You are going down quite a rabbit hole if 2007 was the same as 2008.

At Bowling Green I got not only several build sheets, but daily sequence sheets used at each workstation to tell the workers what the build schedule for the day was. There were these sheets for the chassis, body and interior.

The tires had tags on each valve stem with the sequence number. The sequence number was the equivalent of what we know as the body build number. The left front and right rear tire has the sequence number stenciled on the outside.

Then there is all the plastic covers for the seats and steering wheel. I think there was covers for the floor, but I am not sure of that.

As I stated in another post I got the MSO with the car, but I don't know if that was common with Museum Delivery or not.

On to more pedestrian things: I have the oil, air and cabin filters stashed away. I know that information will lead to a number of obvious and not so obvious questions. I can tell you the oil filter label is different than what is commonly available, but the details are well stored. There was a purple mark on the oil filter. The paper stuff is a lot more accessible. and no, I can't recall if the air filter had a date on it or not.

There was a yellow slash on the rear oil drain plug. I can't remember if there was the same on the front oil drain plug, but in the fall I will look.

All that just touches the surface, and leads me to ask: "Do you really want to go there?"

BTW: I scanned a lot of the paper for Tom Russo. I believe he was/is interested in how the Corvette production changed over the years. I can look in my home PC for images of some of this stuff if you think you will be involved in working on the C6 TIM&JG.

Whats the VIN ? You can document the options on a 2007 easily through the GM vehicle inquiry system (GMVIS)....

        .
Yes, the air filters have dates on them. Original air filter still in place, original cabin filter stashed away.
My plastic seat covers are in the small back storage compartment, and have been since Day 1.
My oil filter was STUCK to the engine. I have it, but it's not usable again.

It occurs to me, in hindsight: Those who took Museum Delivery will have a host of different items than those who picked the car up at the dealer. This difference will be a whole other can of worms that those administering the C6 TIM&JG will have to decide on. This will become very interesting.

BTW: Pat, it is too late now, but one needs the right tool to remove the factory installed oil filter. It is the cup type filter wrench. One needs a quality one, not the ones from Harbor Freight.

I can remove all the subsequent oil filters by hand, but not the original.
Of course, all the oil is drained by the time you think that one of those wrenches you describe would be handy... and yes, that did cross my mind.

Re: Factory provided docments on purchase of 2007 Corvette

Terry, Pat, and John, thanks for the reply. Terry my plan is not to launch a special Corvette rocket. Oh by the way I have a little experience in going down rabbit holes while in S/E Asia, 63-64. That said, I would love to be involved in the production of the 20--/20--, C-6 TIM&JG. I plan to put the little grey beauty on a friends lift and begin an extensive photo regiment. I have found evidence that the car was not museum delivered but was sold new, to a private person in the state of Oregon. That said, there is no State of California smog junk on this car. When I receive the factory build sheet it will give me most of the leads to I/D the genesis of this 20K beauty. Terry I will be at the Frisco Regional in October, maybe we can come up with a joint plan regarding photos of the 2007/08 Vettes. As I recall your 08 is a ZO-6. That would cover both powerplants, coupe and convertible. I think the most difficult items will be date coded run flat tires. I am on the hunt, but I need to learn what to look for on the original tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am also attempting to decode what every RPO listed for this car represents. I was able, thru my local Chevy dealer, to acquire a list of the RPO,s for my VIN, but the descriptions of each RPO leaves a lot to be desired, "ie" R6K, Control Sales Item No 11, R6P, Control Sales Item NO. 15, etc, etc, etc. There are 5 of these. Another is RPO, SLL, Sales Processing-Sold ORDERS. It appears to be a large task, but I am retired and have a lot of time.

I am not sure I have photos of the tires, but they are moderately accessible. Your tires will be different than mine (size) due to my Z06. When I get home I will check my files for photos. I took a lot of them because I hop(ed) to live long enough for C6 judging. I am not sure I will do that with my car, or that I will live that long, but no bets on anything. One day at a time.

Most, not all Museum Delivery cars got a sticker in the driver's door jam; it was owner's choice. It will also show up on the build sheet. Option R8C. It might be on the SPID label also, but I have never looked. The 2008 is on the glove box door. Not sure if 2007 is the same or not. We will all learn.

Yes I knew you knew about rabbit holes both in your service and your career. That is why I mentioned it.

Terry, the more photos the better, evidence, evidence, evidence. I did a small bit of extrapolation, 2000-2002 (2019 Judging of C-5), 2003-2004 (Possible 2020 of the last of the C-5,s), 2005-2008, first years of C-6. Makes sense to me. Maybe we can get that ball rolling early before we both reach our end of watch clock, dreams spring eternal, when age overrides youth.

Vinnie, as you can tell from Terry's, and others who have posted, I broke my C-1 and C-4 mold. I am delving into the secret world of the venerable C-6. I only have one complaint about my new 07, that is, I should have attended the special training academy in the bowels of GM on "COMPUTERS". IT people do not seem to talk to engineers, or old people. I have spent hours reading and attempting to put my knowledge into practice some success some failure, I thought the Feds had a lock on three letter acronyms, WOW. Can you tell me in what years did engine changes, ie: LS-2, LS-3, LS-whatever, and when were the horsepower changes in the C-6. We can share an adult beverage in Oct. at Texas. I have decided on a Ca. vanity plate, DONTDOIT!!!

Mike, life moves on, no pain no gain. On a serious note, I find a challenge more stimulating than living in the past. At my age I need a challenge to keep from falling into dementia. When asked how I have been able to stay alive, I refer folks to Art McNay. A man who judged C-4 chassie as of 2018, and a Korean War f-86 fighter pilot, he is one of my hero's, as is Dave Ferguson Black Bird jockey, Steve McQueen and John Wayne. I think I have made my point. Go out with your boots on, a woman in your lap, a great cigar, drinking Jack straight up. I have decided on a Ca. vanity plate, DNTDOIT!

I understand Ed, but I find great challenges in keeping 4 fuelies running and exercised, tweaking and dragging cars around the country that have never been judged before, and trying to get new people interested in Corvettes. I already have a large backlog of stuff to fight off dementia.....
