I believe the dimensions and a picture are in the Service Manual.

Are you asking about the gauge plate that sets up the shifter alignment? If so it’s .625” to .628” defending on wear and age. It should fit with no clearance.

Thanks Gene. Yes that's what I'm looking for. I have a service manual and saw that it should be 41/64" but what about the width? SM doesn't say anything.

Thickness of metal is not critical. I use 1/32” stainless steel just so it don’t rust in my “collection box”

OK Gene now I think I understand. Its the WIDTH that is the 41/64" and the thickness doesn't matter. Thanks for clarifying for me.

Needs to fit through the outer frame hole and allow the gates to "settle" against the gauge snuggly. Then adjust the rods.
Heres a shot of the hole.

Here is the instructions from Vette Products that gives the measurements to fabricate a gauge block to make the adjustments.

Does anyone have a trans sitting on the bench with the alignment tool to see? Hard to visualize or my brain is not working again.

Just a flat piece of metal slightly smaller than the rectangular hole inserted into it until it bottoms out on the opposite side of the bracket. You should manipulate the gates to insure its passing through both gates. The gates have a notch on them to accept the tool(at least the 68 3 & 4 speeds do). Your basically making sure both gates are parallel to the rectangular hole. You will need to make an L shaped tool if the trans is in the car which is the best way to align the gates and shift rods. Best preformed on a lift with dad in the car manipulating the shifter.

I tried to find the tool I made, no luck.

The above gauge block drawing does not look like a flat piece of metal to me.

The photo in post #8 shows the “window” the sheet metal gauge fits into as described in post #10.

And yes dad or grandson is a perfect helper........

The gage block that Vette products shows to be for C2 is actually for the C1, 55 to 62, 3 & 4 speed shifter adjustment.

Here ya go Mike... I just cut up an old license plate to fit snug in the slot. Line up all the gates, push the guide in till it stops at the the othe end of the c bracket. You can bend it anywhich way you want. In or out of car. John

Now that is "yankee" ingenuity! Now I get it. I will have to crawl under my car and see if I can domit.
