Looking at a 1995 ZR1 with a build date of September 1994 yesterday. Noticed that the date code on the windshield did not seem to conform to know date codes. The first letter was L which stands for March, but the second letter was also an L. Most data that I have seen would indicate that the second letter would be an N for 1994. It does not appear that the windshield has been replaced. Has brown delamination at the top of the windshield. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: 1995 ZR1 Winshield Date Code
Pat I agree with your assessment; now my opinion; we know the ZR-1 is a special animal, and yes the windshield code should be L then L; and
all else is correct, BUT it can not be made in 1987 as second L would indicate; therefore check to see if the windshield has the 4" by 5" opening
in the center in front of the defroster unique to the ZR1 "so as not inter with radar detectors or garage openers", page 98 judge manual, if it does then it is worker error at factory and I would approve it; if not it is a windshield for a LT1 or LT4 put in by worker mistake and I would deduct 20 percent as stated on p.99 of manual. This judge decision would stand up in "court" in my opinion.Dr. George

Re: 1995 ZR1 Winshield Date Code
Thanks, guys.
I value your experience and opinions. It does have the little window to allow for electronic devices.
Still would like to hear from others. The window really does not look like it has been replaced.PAT, Central New Jersey and Florida Chapters- Top

Re: 1995 ZR1 Winshield Date Code
Pat, there are other items on the ZR-1 windshield. LOF and Kooloff SHADED SAFETY FLOAT LAMINATED, with the appropriate with U,Tor A as the month and Y for the year code also the glass is classed as AS1. All of this is in the 94-96 TIMJG. While judging at another, venue I observed a replacement glass on a ZR-1 that had the same characteristic as the LOF glass, but was manufactured by an unk company, possibly China or Mexico. The clue on this particular windshield was, it was missing delamination on any part of the glass.- Top

Re: 1995 ZR1 Winshield Date Code
Pat,
Here's your Twilight Zone input:
ZR-1 originally planned for release as 1989 model.
Date codes for glass are correct - March 1987.
Glass/parts/etc for the ZR-1 would have been acquired in prior years for testing and pilot models.
For your consideration: THIS PARTICULAR WINDSHIELD was a "warehouse clean-out" item, installed as ZR-1 assembly closed down.
Always in the Zone
