Opinions Needed on 1964 Stamp Pad

Need some opinions on the stamp pad on this 1964 Coupe with Air Conditioning and 4 speed manual transmission. Sorry, it is the best picture I received. Thanks.

The absence of broach marks should not be used as an indication the stamp (motor) is not original. Remember this engine is over 50 years old and subject to rust and corrosion with other harsh conditions. Many original motors (stamps) do not show any broach marks especially after a harsh cleaning session. After pulling the head on some motors the broach marks can be seen in vivid reality!

to me, crisp distinctive machine marks are the first clue of a restamp.
This pad looks just as I expect an original pad to look. Broach marks all but invisible to the naked eye.

I didn't mean to imply that distinct, very visible broach is required. I was saying that the pad is so corroded and dark (bad picture), I can't see anything on it.

Isn't the teared metal along the leading edge a good sign? We learned at an NCRS seminar this is caused by the broaching machine.

I like that BaT car. Interesting that some on that venue think adding disc brakes would be a great benefit. Since the car already has power brakes the functional benefit would be minimal in my view and not worth the expense.

Earlier in life I operated various grinders and mills and later supervised a shop for a large automotive supplier which included finishing of large iron castings. Some of what may appear as a tear, etc. are irregular castings with voids later ground showing what appears as a tear.

Beg to differ. The stamp pictured in post #1 I believe belongs to the car offered at auction on Bring A Trailer.See for yourself.
