Re: 1967 Corvette with C-60 Horns

NCRS Judging Manual 5th Edition shows #9000487 (left) and 9000488 (right). For AC cars the horns are relocated more outboard to provide additional clearance for air conditioning components.........but as far as I know the part numbers are not changed.

I believe my 1967 car VIN #14845 has these numbers as I checked it once before..........but can recheck if you have concerns.

        Jimmy,

That's exactly why I'm asking this question. The RH horn is located on the wheel well and has a nut plate riveted to the wheel well for the RH horn bracket doesn't it??????
        Same Horn??????????

        Thanks,

        JR

According to the 7th edition of the TIM&JG, same horn for both A/C and non A/C applications...just a different location for the attaching points.

I have always been told that the brackets on one horn itself are different for an a/c car even though it had the same part number Perhaps Joe Pierre will answer

Guys it’s been awhile since I looked in the AIM under RPO C60 and for the sheet that shows the relocation of the horns but I believe it calls out for “production” horns which means it’s the same assembly as non AC cars. Also St Louis would have received the horns and bracket as a assembly. And if they where diffreant in any way they would have diffreant part numbers.

                    Hi Joe,

Same horns '66-'67 with or without AC. The difference is how they're mounted. The right hand horn uses a special riveted nut plate to the fender/skirt as it's mount since there's condenser/dryer interference where the horn normally fastens to the core support. See AIM C60 sheet B2, part #12. What's not well known is how the driver's side horn is mounted. There's interference there too with the condenser side bracket. The horn is still mounted to the core support but slightly higher/outboard than on non AC cars. Here's a shot from a prior post by Page Campbell of a '67 5 star bowtie car. I've learned a lot about AC cars from his posts.

I have a set of 67 horns Ron Gorlaski did for me many years ago. I compared them to several sets of C-2 horns and guess what --- the 488 horn bracket is about 3/4 of an inch shorter on the AC horn per Rons wisdom. The AC set appears to be legit.

The horns on my 67 were replaced before I bought car with some aftermarket brand. Am wanting to replace them with the correct style Delco Remy reproduction horns. Are there any mounting issues with these horns on a big block A/C car?

                          Jeff,
Years ago when I was looking into fixing my 67 small block, I received the attached two photos to use as a guide for the horn attachment. They were a help to me so I hope they help you.

Is this a 1967 only thing or does it apply to all C2 Corvettes with original a/c?

                              Thanks,
