Experienced folks, what are the real world driving experience / functional differences between a fuel injected engine and its carbureted counterpart. For example, how much different does an L84 drive vs an L76? I think fuelies are way cool, special, and very interesting, but if you were buying one new back in the day, would it be worth the significant extra cost?

Re: Fuel injection vs carb driveability difference
David, i have to fuel injected cars. a 1957 and 58. I also have a 340 hp 62(carbureted). The fuelie,s are way more fun and faster.
Having said that if you buy a fuelie be aware that you must run racing fuel and the unit should be set up by a pro like Jerry Bramlet.
If they are set up right you won't have to touch it.

Re: Fuel injection vs carb driveability difference
In hot weather I have noticed less percolation with the FI unit vs carbureted, both ran 110 leaded fuel. From a performance standpoint acceleration in the corners is the biggest improvement.- Top
